Local people, local knowledge. That is most of what makes a distribution work.
Most of what makes a distribution work is knowing the place it happens in.
Which is why we would rather have four volunteers from the district than forty from outside it.
The work
What volunteers actually do
Named plainly, including the part nobody volunteers for.
- Distribution days. Handing over, checking names against the register, keeping a queue calm and orderly.
- Verification visits. The unglamorous work of confirming that a household is who and where the list says.
- Loading, logistics and translation. Getting supplies to the point of handover, and making sure everyone there is understood.
The ask
What we ask of you
Three things, and the third one matters most.
- Volunteer in a district you know. Local knowledge is the contribution, not the travel.
- Accept screening for roles involving children. Per our child protection policy, without exception.
- Tell us honestly what time you can give. A distribution planned around volunteers who do not arrive is worse than one planned without them.
