Humanitarian deployments
Travelling with a distribution, and what we ask of anyone who does.
A deployment is a team travelling to a district to deliver aid directly — a flood response, a winter distribution, or a medical camp.
Teams are small, mostly local, and led by someone who already works in that district.
The ask
What we ask of anyone who travels
The third one is a safety matter, not a courtesy.
- Commit to the full duration. Including the travel days at each end.
- Accept screening where children are involved. Per our child protection policy.
- Follow the field team's instructions without exception. In a flood response that is a safety matter, not a courtesy.
Our limits
What we do not do
- We do not run voluntourism. If a task can be done better by someone who lives there, it should be.
- We do not displace local paid work. A visiting team that does has made things worse rather than better.
- Deployments exist where an outside team adds capacity. A surge during an emergency, or a specialist skill the district does not have.
