A simple shared meal of rice and dal being served into steel plates at dusk.

Missed and broken fasts

Fidya & Kaffarah

For fasts that were missed, and fasts that were deliberately broken.

Both are settled as meals, not as a payment to us.

Each is calculated from the cost of feeding a person for a day, so the rate is published rather than estimated.

Missed fasts

Fidya

Due where a fast is missed and cannot be made up — through chronic illness or old age. Calculated as the cost of feeding one person for each missed day.

Per missed day TODO_CLIENT: fidya rate per day

Broken fasts

Kaffarah

Due where a fast was deliberately broken without a valid reason. Calculated as the cost of feeding sixty people for each such day.

Per broken day TODO_CLIENT: kaffarah rate per day

How we distribute it
